Crypto CFDs

A CFD on BTC/USD settles in cash and never touches a wallet — what that changes, and what it costs.

A CFD settles in cash: the coin never moves, and neither does a wallet. This is the route the money takes instead.

What a crypto CFD is, and what it is not

A CFD on BTC/USD is a contract with your broker that settles in cash. You never hold a coin, there is no wallet, no private key and no exchange account, and you cannot send what you bought anywhere. What you own is the price difference.

That cuts both ways. Custody risk disappears, and in exchange you take on the broker as counterparty, margin, and an overnight charge for every night the position stays open.

What this page will not do

It will not forecast a coin, rank exchanges, or print a spread table. Crypto spreads move with the hour and the venue, and a figure copied from somewhere else is the least reliable number on any page of this kind.

Where a figure appears here it comes from a broker document and carries the date we read it. The rest is the arithmetic of position size, which is yours to do and ours to make easy.

Leverage is the part that decides the outcome

BTC/USD can travel in a day what a metal travels in a month, so the leverage you pick is not a detail — it sets how far the market may go against you before the position is closed for you.

Work the two numbers out before you open anything: the margin locked by the size you want with the margin calculator, and the size that fits your stop with position size.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a bitcoin CFD compared with buying actual bitcoin?

A bitcoin CFD is a contract that tracks the BTC/USD price, so you never receive or store any coin. Buying actual bitcoin transfers the asset to a wallet you control. The CFD gives you price exposure without a wallet, but it also introduces leverage and financing costs that holding the coin does not.

How does leverage work on a crypto CFD?

Leverage lets you control a position larger than your margin, so both gains and losses are magnified against the same price move. At 1:200 via the offshore entity, a 0.10-lot bitcoin position needs about $385.00 margin. One review cited 1:30/1:20 caps, which is conflicting and unverified, so confirm your actual cap.

What costs are involved in holding a crypto CFD?

Holding a crypto CFD typically involves the spread, any commission, and a financing or swap charge for positions kept open. The exact amounts depend on the account type, the instrument and how long you hold. We cannot quote numbers here, so ask the broker for the schedule and use the profit calculator to model it.

Can a crypto CFD position be liquidated if the price moves against me?

Yes, a leveraged position can be closed out if your losses consume the margin backing it. That is why the stop loss and the position size matter more than the direction you pick. Use the margin calculator to see how much room a position has before it becomes vulnerable.

Where can I check pip value and profit on a bitcoin CFD?

Use our pip value and profit calculators before you trade. For bitcoin, 1 standard lot is 1 BTC and one pip is 1.0, with a reference price of about 77000.0, so the figures are easy to check. Confirm the numbers against your broker's contract specification as well.
